The community is coming together to support a Church Hill bakery forced to close after a fire in its building. The Food Truck Court benefiting Sub Rosa opened at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hardywood Brewery.
Dozens of vendors showed up for the regular Food Truck Court, but now some of the proceeds are going to help Sub Rosa Bakery get back on its feet. Some of the trucks will match donations from the public. There's a raffle, art for purchase and music.
Last week, the Church Hill Bakery was forced to shut its doors after less than six months of business. A fire tore through the building, damaging the upstairs apartments and condemning the building. None of the tenants had renter's insurance, but the owners of Sub Rosa vow to reopen.
The event started at 6 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. at Hardywood Brewery on Ownby Lane.
The fire was ruled accidental. Fire marshals are still working to determine an exact cause.
