RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia lawmakers took a break from their work at the General Assembly to honor a State Trooper who was killed in the line of duty last month.
The House of Delegates reconvened Wednesday for the veto session to tackle issues, such as transportation and text and driving. However, they took time to welcome the family of Master Trooper Junius Walker, as well.
Delegate Rosalyn Dance (D-Chesterfield) spoke about Walker's life and service with the Virginia State Police with members of the Walker family at her side. Members of the House greeted the family with a standing ovation.
Master Trooper Walker was shot and killed on March 7, when he stopped to help a disabled car on the side of the road. Russell Brown was arrested and charged with attempted capital murder and murder.
