The former firefighter and his girlfriend accused of setting multiple fires on the Eastern Shore will appear in court Wednesday.
38-year-old Charles Smith is the former captain of the Tasley Volunteer Fire Department. His girlfriend is 40-year-old Tonya Bundick. These were the two people were being questioned Tuesday about a recent fire. After the questioning, they were arrested.
Smith and Bundick are suspected of setting not all, but many of the nearly 80 arsons on Virginia's Eastern Shore since mid-November.
The pair live in Parksley, which is a small community where the first of 77 deliberately set fires was lit.
It is not clear whether Smith and Bundick have attorneys, but we will keep you posted on any developments in this case.
