Investigators have determined that the 62-year-old Midlothian woman on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship died of natural causes.
FBI spokesman Rich Wolf said Katherine Kennedy died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Kennedy's husband reported finding his wife dead in their room on the The Enchantment of the Seas Sunday. The ship returned to Baltimore Monday after a seven-night voyage to Florida and the Bahamas, Royal Caribbean said.
Royal Caribbean said in a statement that it contacted the FBI and local police as part of standard procedures. FBI agents boarded the ship when it arrived in Baltimore.
"We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends," the statement from Royal Caribbean read in part.
The Enchantment of the Seas has 11 decks, according to the Royal Caribbean web site. A source says the medical team responded to a cabin on the 7th floor, at 4am.
Reports indicate the FBI detained several people on the 7th deck for interviews.
