LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

On Tuesday, the Gregg County Sheriff's Department released the autopsy report for Bobby Joe Madewell, Jr, 51, of Longview. Madewell died in the Gregg County Jail following an interaction with officers.

According to Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano, Madewell began to resist and became violent. Officers then used a stun gun on Madewell, attempting to apply restraints in his cell. Madewell lost consciousness and was treated by medical staff. He later died at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

An autopsy was performed on Madewell on Friday. The provisional findings indicated that Madewell suffered superficial blunt force injuries to his head, face, torso and extremities, but no internal injuries. The autopsy also found a history of collapse following application of a TASER-like device and an administration of haloperidol, of the antipsychotic class of medications.

The cause of death is still pending follow up laboratory examinations and microscopic examination.

The doctor did note that there were no signs of notable trauma or foul play. Toxicology screens have been ordered.

Madewell's mother has hired an attorney.
