Jury recommends death for the Craigslist Killer

Jury recommends death for Richard Beasley Jury recommends death for Richard Beasley

AKRON, OH - The jury in the Craigslist killer trial recommended the death penalty Wednesday for Richard Beasley.

The death penalty phase began Wednesday morning in front of Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Lynne Callahan.

The jury came back with the three unanimous recommendations less than three hours after they began deliberations.

Last week, that same jury convicted Beasley on three counts of aggravated murder for the deaths of Ralph Geiger, Timothy Kern and David Pauley.

"Not a day goes by that any of these families don't think about their loved ones," said Jack Kern.

Jack Kern's son Timothy was one of Beasley's victims. "He was killed for $5.00," said Kern.

Beasley and his teen accomplice, Brogan Rafferty, lured the men to a remote farm in Noble County through a Craigslist ad that promised work. Geiger, Kern and Pauley were killed, a fourth man Scott Davis, was shot, but survived.

Rafferty was sentenced last November. He received life without parole for his role in the crimes. During his trial he testified that he feared for his life if he didn't do what Beasley told him to do.

Beasley will be officially sentenced on March 26.
