Atlanta Division Kroger stores show their support for MDA by selling Shamrocks mobiles from now through March 30.
ATLANTA, (PRWEB) March 21, 2013
Atlanta Division Kroger stores will spread the luck of the Irish by participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks program from now through March 30.
Kroger customers and associates can show their support for MDA by purchasing and signing $1 green and $5 gold mobiles at any of the 213 stores in the Kroger Atlanta Division. The mobiles are displayed on ceilings and walls, helping to decorate stores and create a St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere in support of the annual fundraising campaign to benefit individuals and families affected by muscle disease.
“Each year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association gives more than 1 million Americans affected by muscle disease hope by funding lifesaving research," said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Kroger is fortunate to be a part of the Shamrock fundraiser and the various services it provides.”
This is the 13th consecutive year the Kroger Atlanta Division has supported the Shamrocks program. Funds raised through the campaign will support the Association's programs of research and health care services, including MDA summer camp.
“Kroger remains one of the largest supporters of MDA’s efforts to provide support to local families living with muscle disease,” said Sabrina Hughes, divisional director of MDA’s East Central States Division. “Kroger associates and their loyal and valued customers always come through for MDA. Everyone involved is always so giving, even in these tough economic conditions.”
The MDA Shamrocks program started in 1982 in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was elevated to a national program a year later. Every year, the program has received record results with more than $20 million raised in each of the last two years. In 2012, $23 million was raised nationwide.
