RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In this week's Politifact Virginia report - Governor Bob McDonnell is learning governing is different from campaigning.
On the campaign trail in 2009, McDonnell repeatedly promised he would not raise taxes. In fact he was pretty critical of his opponent Creigh Deeds who he wanted to raise taxes to pay for transportation.
Well now it is 2013 and McDonnell…well according to the reporters of Politifact Virginia, McDonnell's newly passed plan to fund transportation long term is a "full flop" from what he promised on the campaign trail. Sean Gorman explains why.
"What he says he supports now is basically 180 degrees from what he said during the course of the campaign. He made very clear during the campaign that he rejected tax increases and this package that just passed in the General Assembly would raise a lot of new revenue from tax increases and fees," Gorman said.
