Chesterfield says previous reports that they are threatening to quit paying its part to fund the Diamond are false.
Jay Stegmaier, Chesterfield County Administrator, said:
"Chesterfield is part of an operating agreement and as long as it is in place we will meet our obligations under this agreement. The city has told us that they need control of the property to complete their plans for redevelopment of the Boulevard site. Chesterfield fully supports actions by the RMA that help Richmond reach their goals for that site."
The Diamond is currently owned by the Richmond Metropolitan Authority, which is made up of leaders in Richmond, Henrico, and Chesterfield.
