Influenza and the common cold

We are at the tail end of the flu season, but it's not over quite yet, there are still strains of it out there.

Dr. William Ferrar  is seeing cases of both the flu and the common cold.

The flu and the common cold can sometimes be similar.

The flu has upper respiratory symptoms with sudden onset and a need to rest. The common cold builds over two days and then lays you low, only to improve on the fifth and sixth day

The over the counter cold medicines are good for both, but starting the anti-flu drugs such as tamiflu within 24-72 hours helps only with influenza.
