RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The lead singer of local Richmond band "Lamb of God" has been acquitted in the death of a teenage fan.

"I have been found not guilty & acquitted of all chares against me. I am a free man." Randy Blythe posted on his Instagram Tuesday morning. "Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts & prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace. Thank you for your support."

Prosecutors, who had demanded a five-year prison term for Blythe, have appealed the verdict.

He wrote on his Instagram account earlier in the morning that "judgement will be passed today and he will move on with his life in one direction or the other."

His troubles began in 2010. The "Lamb of God" singer was accused of shoving a fan off stage during a concert in Prague. The 19-year-old fan died from his injuries. In December he was charged in Prague with causing bodily harm to another person with lethal consequences. Blythe pleaded not guilty. His manager says the singer was defending himself against several fans who rushed the stage that night.

He has always maintained his innocence, and he continued to do that Tuesday morning on Instagram.

He wrote, "I am an innocent man, but a family suffers the loss of a son, a fan of my band. That is what this whole thing is truly about, not prison, not money, not politics, not me- it is about a young man who lost his life at just 19 years of age."

Upon his arrest, Blythe received an outpouring of support from fellow musicians around the world, as well as from his loyal fans and friends in Richmond.
