You have probably heard all that you care to hear about sequestration, and by the time you hear this message something or nothing has occurred. Sequestration is a term used to describe the practice of using mandatory spending cuts in the federal budget if the cost of running the government exceeds either an arbitrary amount or the gross revenue it brings during the fiscal year.
Like many of you I am frustrated and disgusted with the leadership and cooperation between the Congress and the President.
Our national representatives have decided that our best interest is not their highest priority and if that were not the case we would not continue to bring the country to the brink of real or supposed disaster each and every time we have to make important legislative decisions.
This is not a Democrat or Republican problem; this is a national problem that is hurting the country in many ways. How can businesses make decisions about the future when they don't have confidence in what will occur in the next five minutes in Washington? How can we ask the average family to plan, save and sacrifice, when our elected officials cannot make the same hard decisions we have to make every day? Does anyone in Washington care about consumer confidence?
As families, we have to cut entitlements, raise revenue, invest for our future, and we have to balance our budgets. We also have constituents that we have to answer to; they are called our children, our neighbors and our community.
We operate just like Washington, with one big difference, we talk to each other.
