Police have made two arrests in a year-and-a-half old Henrico murder mystery.
Isaiah D. Thompson, 22, was found shot and killed in August 2011 at the Newbridge Apartment complex building. At the time police had only vague suspect descriptions. However, Wednesday Henrico police arrested Terrance Craig Wallace, Jr., 21, and Delante Vasean Rowe, 21, on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Thompson's girlfriend said the shooting may have stemmed from a fight at the Have a Nice Day Cafe in Shockoe Bottom. Two others were also shot, but were able to recover.
"It was scary," says Jasmine Jones. She says Thompson died on her doormat in the hallway of the building. "It was shocking at the same time, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't do anything."
Jones ran to a back room with her family when they heard the gunshots.
"He died so fast there was nothing nobody could do," she said.
For hours, detectives combed a large crime scene marking off evidence.
But no new developments were released until now. Investigators say Wallace and Rowe have something to do with the murder. Officers say Wallace was found in Chesterfield, Delante in Henrico.
"I hope it will send out the message it shouldn't done it shouldn't," says Jones. "Nothing is that serious to kill someone [and] take somebody's life over."
The arrests are now sending out a strong message to those who think violence is the answer.
Detectives are still investigating and consider it an ongoing investigation. If you have any information that could help police, call 501-5000.
