Lady Wildcats are in a class of their own

Posted: Updated:

The Crisp Academy Lady Wildcats are trying to win a third straight Class A girls state basketball title this weekend in Macon.

The Crisp Academy girls are the favorites to win that third state title.

They not only have dominated every Class A opponent this season they have also beaten some of the teams in the top classes.

In fact, The Class A Lady Wildcats may be the best girls team in the GISA.

Crisp Academy has played all six of the eight semifinalists teams in classes AA and AAA.

They have beaten five of those six teams including three of the four final four teams in AAA.

The Lady Wildcats focus though is on the competition in Class A where they know a third state championship could earn them some respect.

"People say oh you just won Single A GISA basketball.  We also have beaten 3A schools this season.  We also in the summer beat 5A public schools.  Just because we are Single A doesn't mean we are not that good," said senior Kendall Wilson.

"I think it would be very good accomplishment.  We are the first team in a long time to even win state championship.  So three in a row would be very good for us," said senior Jay Jay Yown.

Crisp Academy plays Curtis Baptist at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Macon.

Citizens Christian Academy battles Georgia Christian School in the second semifinal 2:30 p.m.  Thursday.
