A Virginia fifth-grader is in hot water after bringing marijuana to school, but he says he had a good excuse.
Suffolk Police say the student told them he brought the pot to school to keep his dad from smoking it.
School leaders say the student told officers he found the marijuana in his father's truck and that he took it to school to show his teacher, hoping his dad would stop using drugs.
Based on the school's drug policy, Suffolk school leaders have recommended the student be expelled.
