Police are looking for a person of interest in the homicide of an elderly couple in Fauquier County.

Nelson Slack, 80, and Ethel Slack, 74, didn't make it to church Sunday morning, according to Fredericksburg.com. Deputies later discovered them dead inside their home in The Plains section of Fauquier County, according to officials. Their vehicle was located around 4 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg.

Now, authorities are looking for John Wesley Jeffries as a person of interest in the case. He is a registered sex offender with convictions for rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration and abduction for immoral purposes out of Loudoun County in 1986, according to the state's sex offender registry.

Fredericksburg police have been trying to locate him since before the homicides in connection with another recent incident in Spotsylvania that led to charges of malicious wounding and felony strangulation.

Jeffries is a 59-year-old white male, 5'8" and 170 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. His last known address was in Fredericksburg. He is considered armed and dangerous, so if you have any contact with him you should call 911 immediately.
