Equipment and buildings are tagged overnight and the victims are fed up!
It happened on Dove Street in the North Highland Park community, which is close to Overby-Sheppard Elementary School.
Construction crews say they noticed the damage when they arrived early Sunday. They say someone took a forklift on a joyride, smashing a huge hole into the side of a newly constructed building, destroying a brand new curb, and crashing into piles of floor decking.
A supervisor says they managed to get inside the machines with a universal key. They even used this excavator to damage the hydraulic lines of a machine next to it.
At least 10 thousand dollars worth of damage occurred this time around. Crews say vandals had just hit last week. They think they're getting in through openings in the fencing around the property.
Staff on site say they're building mixed income housing, a redevelopment effort sponsored by the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Crews aren't sure why people keep coming in to destroy their work but they're fed up and they're asking the police for help.
The contractors say they eventually plan on installing security equipment.
If you heard or saw anything that could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
