UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas home is heavily damaged and only the garage and one bedroom is left standing following a house fire Saturday morning.

The 5-bedroom brick home caught fire Saturday morning around 9 off of Private Road 3471. This is off of Highway 80 between Cherry road and Hickory road, between Gladewater and Big Sandy. Authorities tell us a neighbor called in the fire.

Fire crews from Gladewater, Big Sandy, Pritchett, West Mountain and Clarksville/Warren City responded to the scene. Officials say about 75% of the home is destroyed.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials think it may be electrical.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and have not yet been contacted.
