Investigators believe a weekend fire at a Farmville restaurant was started on accident.
Crews responded around 4:50 a.m. Saturday to a blaze at the La Parota Mexican Restaurant. Flames were shooting through the roof at the back of the building, then spread quickly through the attic space.
It took an hour and a half for firefighters from Farmville, Hampden-Sydney, Rice, and Prospect fire departments to get the fire under control. No one was injured and no employees were inside the building during the blaze.
The fire is being jointly investigated by the Farmville Fire Department and the Town of Farmville Building Official's Office and is considered accidental at this time.
