Three armed robberies in three weeks at Short Pump

Posted: Updated:

Two suspects are in jail, accused of an armed robbery in the Short Pump area.

Investigators say Dexter Clark, arrested on Friday, and Carsheeka Kimbrough, arrested earlier this week, robbed two teens at gunpoint in a parking lot near Regal Cinemas.

It's the latest arrest in a series of armed robberies in the West End. There have been three crimes in three weeks.

"It is surprising, especially the fact that they're violent," said Bob Hausenfluck. He takes his lunch break at a Short Pump restaurant daily.

Two days ago, police arrested three men for an incident on Falconbridge Drive and Pump Road.

At the Short Pump Town Center, investigators are still looking for three men who held Littman's Jewelers' employees at gunpoint. The only surveillance photos released are grainy, but show a possible getaway car.

"You don't really expect that kind of thing in the Short Pump, suburban area," said Shawn Gregory. He owns Halligans Bar & Grill at the West Broad Shopping Center.

The robberies happened down the road, but they're still a big concern. He says property managers communicate with business owners, and that's key to preventing more crime.

"They communicate with us about ongoing issues that they may have that they're investigating," he said.

But that's not the same point of view at Short Pump Town Center. After the armed robbery at Littmans, one store owner asked management for more information.

The reply he received said, "There was an incident last night, nobody hurt, under police investigation."

When he asked about installing an alert system, there was no email back. He calls the mall's lack of communication disheartening.

NBC12 did reach out Short Pump Town Center about security and safety but has not heard anything back.
