A Petersburg woman called 12 for help after a fire ripped through her home and her insurance company told her they had no record of her policy.
Mary Hannon said she paid for new homeowner's insurance through Payle$$ Insurance on February 1. Two weeks later, an electrical fire caused thousands of dollars in damage.
While Hannon had proof the company cashed her check, she hadn't received a written policy and was told the company didn't have her in its system.
NBC12 went to Payle$$ Insurance in Downtown Petersburg. The general manager told us the company did cash her check and said the company is trying to work with Hannon.
Hannon said an agent should be at her house Thursday but she says, she just wants to know when her home will be fixed.
"I want to know, are you going to cover this damage?" said Hannon. "It's your error and you cashed my check."
NBC12 will continue to follow this story.
