HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -
With the budget deadline approaching, Hanover school leaders may have a plan to reduce the massive budget gap.
According to the Richmond Time-Dispatch, school leaders plan to cut 16 teaching positions, which means High school teachers will be expected to teach more classes.
Originally, leaders wanted to cut 24 teaching positions.
The paper reports the county will use some of the money intended for computer upgrades to save some teachers. Also, the paper reports the student sports and activity fee option appears to be off the table.
The school board must adopt a budget by Thursday.
