Richmond police have released the identity of a man shot and killed on the city's south side Sunday.
Police say Jared P. Ellison, 34, of the 2400 block of Arrow Wood Road in Midlothian died at CJW-Chippenham Medical Center. Police are still looking for the gunman.
The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and West 34th Street.
Families in the area have been helping police to find who killed a man right in front of someone's home.
Detectives said the shooter had an accomplice, who drove him away in a early 2000 model gold Ford Taurus. The victim is a male in his 30s. It's not clear if he's from the neighborhood or another part of town. Police are saying the motive for all of this appears to be drug-related.
Police encourage anyone who can help with an arrest to anonymously call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
