RPD Chief's resignation gets national attention

News of the change in command at the Richmond Police Department continues to make waves.

The national and entertainment media have picked up on the story, but it's getting a very different treatment outside of Central Virginia.

Chief Bryan Norwood's connection to Chris Brown's community service records launched the story into national news, despite Mayor Dwight Jones saying the issue didn't play into the mutually agreed upon decision for Norwood to resign.

Music sites, like BET.com used the resignation as a way to update their Chris Brown coverage, with sites like E! and MTV asking if the departure had anything to do with Brown.

While Norwood may be remembered for a decrease in crime locally, he's linked to the Brown case nationally, as seen in the headlines on Newser, TMZ and even the LA Times.

Some made the connection even more blatant, like the New York Post and Perez Hilton who noted he was the chief who "signed off on Brown's records."

Spin called him an "alleged Brown conspirator" and UPI.com went as far as to say Norwood resigned over the scandal.

Pictures of Chris Brown and Rihanna were as visible as pictures of Norwood, whose image seems to have taken a hit nationwide, despite the declarations that the Brown case wasn't tied to his resignation.
