Court docs: stun guns and ammo found in murder suspect's home

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Stun guns and ammunition are just some of the items police say they found in a murder suspect's home.

19-year-old Jamon Burroughs is in jail right now. He is accused of gunning down a well-liked Henrico store clerk, Farooq Bhimdi.

Now there is new information on the suspect, uncovered in search warrants and on Burrough's Facebook page.

Officers arrested Burroughs at a relative's home on Howard Road, 24 hours after they got the 911 call that Bhimdi was gunned down in his own store.

"The support you have given us, and for catching the man who did this to my father, I want to thank you all," said one of Bhimdi's daughters at a vigil for her father.

Now court documents show what detectives were looking for and what they found.

Detectives collected cell phones, helmets and a scooter at the home where Burroughs was arrested. Detectives did not say why they wanted those items.

Detectives also found "a safe with ammo," "a plastic bag containing ammo," two stun guns, "a handgun holster" and clothing at Burroughs' home on Elkridge Lane.

That clothing, according to the search warrant, could be matched to a videotape. Detectives do not give details on the tape, but police have told us surveillance video taken the night of the murder helped them track down Burroughs and arrest him.

But in earlier interviews, the suspect's family is standing by him.  "He wouldn't hurt a fly," his sister said.

NBC12 found a Facebook profile belonging to Burroughs. The most recent photo shows Burroughs with a jail jumpsuit on. People post that they are praying for his freedom.

Then there's another Facebook profile picture - showing him with a gun lying on the counter.

Burroughs' next court date is February 13.

An affidavit, which is a written statement by investigators that could be used as evidence in court, has been sealed by the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
