John Dixon IVThe son of Petersburg's police chief will go on trial in April to face accusations of drunk driving.
John Dixon IV was back in a Henrico court room Monday. A judge set his trial for April 15 at 1:30 p.m.
Dixon is a Petersburg police officer who works under his father, Chief John Dixon, but the officer's career could be in trouble if he's convicted two months from now.
Henrico police say officer John Dixon IV refused a breath test, failed all sobriety tests and drove with plates that expired a year ago. A Henrico police report says Dixon wove in and out of his lane on Broad Street five times near the Short Pump Town Center on January 26 and says when Dixon ran a red light, another car almost crashed into him.
Petersburg will not comment on the matter, saying it is a private personnel issue.
