Two young men were killed Saturday night after their car crashed into several trees along Cary Street Road.

Police say the car spun into the road, after the accident at about 11:20 p.m. The victims are identified as Nathaniel Daigle, of West Grace Street, and Joel Forshaw, of Oak Crest Drive in King George.

Three passersby pulled over trying to save the victims in what would be their final moments. The scene will forever be engrained in the minds of Blake Turner, Lauren Harris and Aili Espi.

"I feel so horrible for the families involved. I wish there was more that I could have done," said Aili Espi through tears.

The group called police, and raced to the two men inside the car. Turner lifted one from the wreck.

"As soon as I pulled him from over the top of the car, he [the victim] took a big deep breath. I checked his pulse. His pulse was really shallow… I was doing everything I can to keep him as conscious as I could," said Turner.

Roses now sit where police say the pair lost control. Investigators believe that speed was a factor in this crash. The 30-mile-an-hour stretch has a slightly blind turn shortly before the spot where the men collided into the trees.

Turner says the car's engine was at least thirty feet from the car. Debris was strewn on the side of the road.

"It was an eye opener for how precious life really is," said Turner.

A friend of both Nat and Joel says both men were wonderful people. He says Nat was a talented artist, while working as a pharmacy technician and caricature artist. His family says his humor will be missed, as will his gentle soul and unique take on the world.

Joel's family says he was a VCU graduate who worked at Bowhead, a defense contractor in Dahlgren.

"He had a passion for sailing and cars," his family said in a statement. "He was a very special person to all that met him."
