Mom and pop shop in Richmond robbed during daylight

Police are looking for suspects in a Richmond convenience store robbery, Friday.

Owner, Mari Fife said she didn't recognize the men who came in to her corner store on Q and 34th streets. Fife said, other than another employee sweeping the floor, she was the only one inside.

At first – Fife said the man in the orange jacket played it cool - and asked her for some medicine.

"And he says Tylenol, so I reach over here...reach for the Tylenol, think I had 2 of them, and I came back and I gave it to him, and as I handed it to him he acted like he was about to get the money," Fife said.

But the man didn't reach into his pocket to get money.

"He says...I'm not trying to cause a scene but you are being robbed. I said, I'm being robbed!," she said.

Fife said she yelled it out hoping others in the store would hear her and help. That's when she realized the other two were in it as well - she said they didn't even look her way.

Fife said she then panicked.

"And I said, 'I'm being robbed'. He said, 'Yes. I'm not trying to cause a scene,'" she said.

Fife complied and took out her cash drawer. The men took off but police say they have strong leads.

"We do have some idea of who they might be prior to interaction with other officers but we can definitely use the public's help in this," said Det. John Grazioso III, of Richmond Police.
