Lockdown at Tucker High School lifted

Henrico Schools Director of Communications and Public Relations Andy Jenks has announced that the lockdown at Tucker High School has been lifted.

An employee at the school said the school was put on lockdown at 12 p.m. for the report of some kind of threat. Henrico Police were at the school and closed off access to it.

The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m.

Parents were notified of the situation at the school through email and phone with the following message:

"Dear Members of the Tucker High School Community this is Dr. Lowerre the principal calling with a message about a situation that took place on campus today.

This morning, the Henrico Police were made aware of a non-specific threat against Tucker High School.  The police responded to the threat and decided to err on the side of caution.

This morning, the police were pro-active and conducted a sweep of the entire campus for anything that shouldn't be here.  Nothing was found.  I would like to add that all of our students handled the situation remarkably well.  As always, we are doing the best we can to maintain the safety of our students.

Afternoon tech students will remain on campus and our field trips off campus have been cancelled for the day.

Thanks for your continued support!  Go Tigers!"
