CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield woman has been charged of embezzling money from a youth sports group.
43-year-old Shirley Bishop has been charged with embezzling hundreds of dollars from Clover Hill Sports Association. The group organizes sports for kids in Chesterfield County.
Bishop was the former Registration Director. The position is now listed as vacant on the organization's website.
A source with Clover Hill says Bishop's job was to sign up kids, receive their registration fees and turn the money over to the association's treasurer.
Court records didn't show how much money was allegedly embezzled but the amount is at least more than 200 dollars.
If these allegations prove true then this would be the second time Bishop had embezzled money.
According to court documents, Bishop was convicted of forging checks from another Tricity Insulation in 1998. She was sentenced to fifteen years in jail but the sentence was suspended.
Bishop was also placed on twenty years probation, which ended in 2008. Just three years later, in 2011, she allegedly started stealing again.
NBC12 went to Bishop's neighborhood, where her neighbor said, she couldn't believe the charges against her. Bishop had no comment.
Bishop is out on a $7500 secured bond but she'll be in court to answer to these new charges on February 12th.
