A group of pediatricians pushing for a new children's hospital say they're being met with opposition.
The group "PACKids" met at St. Paul's church in downtown Richmond Wednesday evening.
They say VCU's new children's hospital isn't good enough and want an independent hospital where kids can have all their needs met.
The group's chairman says the time to build the hospital is now.
"We can be excellent, we can be world-class when measured against others and all it takes is that consolidated, coordinated, new model of care," said Chairman Ted Abernathy.
Meanwhile, VCU took out a full-page ad to educate the community about the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU. VCU says their children's hospital gives world-class care and Richmond doesn't need another one.
PACKids says they can find a way to agree with VCU while putting sick kids first.
