Police impersonator threatens driver in Woodlake

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Police say a man angry behind the wheel chased another driver home and threatened him, all while claiming he's an undercover cop.

Chesterfield Police say it started on Woolridge Road and ended at a home in the Woodlake neighborhood. Police call it a case of severe road rage that ended with a big lie.

"It's a little scary especially with him identifying himself as an undercover cop that really just scared us a little bit," said the man who didn't want his name released but did call police.

Police say the imposter parked his car behind the man he followed, got out, and walked right up to him.

"He said that he was going to call his supervisor and the police department would be monitoring his activity with a radar gun," said Lt. Randy Horowitz of Chesterfield Police.

Horowitz said, the whole thing was so farfetched and that this guy was just out to harass the other person.

"The suspect just wanted to intimidate somebody…want to be able to have some control," said Horowitz.

No one was hurt, but police want to find this impersonator. The type of vehicle he drove away in: a newer model black Kia Forte.

If he's caught, he can get up to a year behind bars and a hefty fine. Police say if you ever run into a possible impersonator - call the authorities.
