Relief is on the way for drivers in on Route 360 near the Woodlake community. Officials have plans to widen route 360 as early as this summer, adding more lanes for more cars.
Officials say they know the area can be a traffic nightmare for many living and working in the area, especially during the rush hour.
Mike Traub lives and works in the area. He says he's waited an hour for a drive that should take just 10 minutes.
"The more and more they build, the worse and worse traffic gets," said Traub. "I've built further out Hull Street, further out west, so for me to get home it's a long long drive in the evening."
Now, there's a plan in place to make things a little smoother on Route 360. One lane will be added in each direction between Winterpock and Woodlake.
If all goes according to plan, construction could begin as early as this summer.
"It's going to make flow through that area much better," said John McCracken, Director of Chesterfield Department of Transportation/ "You won't see the delays that people experience out there today."
"I think it would help out a lot," said Traub. "I think it would make the evening commute home a lot shorter and a lot more convenient.
The widening project is also expected to come in under budget. In part, because officials will be able to use the existing bridge over the reservoir.
