RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Lauren Richardson is warning her patients about colon cancer.

Colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States, affecting both men and women.

It is slow growing and often times does not cause any symptoms until it is at a more advanced stage.

Men and women should be screened for colon cancer starting at age 50.
