J.R. Tucker freshman basketball player Anne-Marie Beran knows how bad Alzheimer's disease can be. Her grandfather suffers from the disease and Friday night she did her part to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's.
Beran brought the idea of a "We Back Pat" night to her school. She got the idea when the SEC held a "We Back Pat" week, named for legendary former Tennessee women's hoops coach Pat Summitt, who was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2011.
Friday at Tucker saw the Pat Summitt Foundation selling tee-shirts, wristbands and spirit towels throughout both the girls and boys contests. It's the first event of its kind in the commonwealth and one of the first in the country at the high school level.
