The fire started around 10 p.m. Thursday off of Rising Mount Zion Road, near 5600 Old Elko Road. A vacant home is now engulfed in flamesWe are told the nearby church is not in danger.
A person called from Elko Road, but wasn't sure of the name of the road where the house was located. When firefighters responded, they found a two story home on fire on Rising Mount Zion Road, but the fire was a bit difficult to fight because there are no fire hydrants in the area. So firefighters had to shuttle water in from a mile away.
It took close to two hours to bring it all under control. Investigators were able to get in touch with the home owner, who confirmed no one has lived in that home for years.
