RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Two local companies are about to hire hundreds of people. King's Dominion is filling 4000 seasonal positions and Capital One has 550 job openings right now.

King's Dominion is adding eight new rides and expanding its Planet Snoopy area for kids. They need 4000 seasonal workers to run it.

Said Greg Talley, Director of Human Resources at King's Dominion, "We're looking for all of our positions across the park. Ride operators, food and beverage, games, merchandise."

Talley tells me the secret to getting a job here is an outgoing personality.

"You should focus your interviewing skills on what is your customer service, expertise, what experience you've had in customer service, or why you have a passion for taking care of people," Talley explained.

King's Dominion is also inviting actors, dancers, singers, and stage crews to audition at the park on February 2nd and 16th.

But the park is not holding a job fair for its other positions. Candidates need to apply through the website http://www.kingsdominion.com/jobs.

Capital One is sponsoring the Recruit Military job fair for veterans on Thursday, January 31. The credit card company has committed $4.5 million to hiring veterans with the "Hiring Our Heroes" campaign, says David Wright, a Capital One Senior Vice-President and national guard veteran himself.

"A great candidate at Capital One is somebody who has a teamwork background, who loves to work on teams, someone who is a great problem solver," Wright tells me.

Capital One has 550 open positions, including business analysts, IT analysts, call center staff, and now, customer service representatives who can work from home.

Explained Wright, "That has to be a person who is really self motivated and a person who, working from home, can focus on the job and focus on the customer and not be distracted by the things around them."

The Recruit Military job fair is Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Richmond International Raceway. Other companies include Dominion Paving, the McGuire Veterans Hospital, and Exelon. Go to events.recruitmilitary.com for more information.
