Thomas Dale High School's baseball field will be named after a Virginia Tech shooting victim.
Matthew Gwaltney played shortstop and pitcher for the school's baseball team. He was killed in the 2007 mass shooting on Virginia Tech's campus.
The county school board voted unanimously last week to name the field, where Gwaltney had played, in his honor.
While at Thomas Dale, Gwaltney also played basketball and served as sports editor for the student newspaper.
