VCU falls to La Salle

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

VCU entered Saturday night looking to bounce back from Thursday's loss at Richmond.   Instead, the Rams suffered their second two-game losing streak of the season.

Ramon Galloway scored a game-high 31 points to lead La Salle to a 69-61 victory over VCU at the Siegel Center.  After exchanging leads, the Explorers used a 14-0 run in the late stages of the first half and went into the locker room leading 34-25.

VCU would go on a run of its own to begin the second frame, bursting out of the blocks on a 17-0 run to take a 42-34 lead.  La Salle, however, answered, crawling back to tie the game at 46 midway through the second half.  The Explorers would take a 48-46 lead at the 8:48 mark and would never give it back, pulling ahead by as many as seven.  The Rams would pull to within a point with 2:49 remaining, but La Salle held off their charge.

Juvonte Reddic paced VCU with 22 points and ten rebounds.  Treveon Graham also tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

The Rams only got three points off the bench, all three from Briante Weber.  They also only connected on four of their 16 three point attempts.

VCU falls to 16-5, 4-2 in the Atlantic 10, and will travel to Rhode Island on Wednesday for a 7:00pm tip-off.  The Rams will be looking to avoid their first three-game losing streak since December of 2004.
