While you were fighting the icy roads, firefighters in Richmond had a similar problem.
Just after 5 p.m. crews were called to a fire at a home in the 7400 block of Rockfalls Drive.
It took firefighters 40 minutes to get the fire under control.
The homeowners were not inside, but three dogs were - a neighbor actually kicked in a door to bring them to safety.
Fire crews had to bring in a sand truck since the water hoses were icing the streets.
They also had to use kitty litter to de-ice the roads, since the home was at the bottom of a hill and fire and rescue trucks had to get back to the top.
