A chemical spill in Hopewell caused traffic to back up on Route 10 near the Courthouse Thursday afternoon.
Hopewell officials say a truck driving westbound on West Randolph Road towards East Hundred Road into Chesterfield, spilled some sort of clear white liquid onto the road around 2 p.m. and kept going.
Hazmat crews collected a sample of the chemical. It found that the acid of the substance was within safe levels and is not considered harmful.
The spill was just over half a mile long to the bridge crossing over the Appomattox River. The roads are now clear of the spill.
