The former VCU Women's Volleyball coach, who claimed he was fired for being gay, has found a new job in Seattle.
James Finley will be the new head volleyball coach of the Seattle University Redhawks starting February 1.
"I am very excited to receive the opportunity to move the Seattle U program forward as it looks to advance within Division I and the Western Athletic Conference," said Finley.
Finley's controversial dismissal from VCU caused a strong backlash from the students and faculty which prompted the university to conduct an Equal Employment Opportunity investigation. The investigation found the complaint unfounded.
Finley served as head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University for the past eight years, compiling a 151-116 (.566) record since 2005 and led the Rams to four conference championship matches.
