Some Richmond Elementary School students had to work to stay warm for a good part of the day.
Swansboro Elementary, off Midlothian Turnpike, started the day with no heat.
A spokesperson for the school district said the issue was fixed and heat was turned back on at 10:30 Tuesday morning.
As cold as it's been though, heating up an entire school was a slow process.
An hour after that heat came back online, NBC12 caught up with a parent who was walking out of the building. She says it was still cold.
"It's cold, but they're fixing it right now. But it was really cold. It felt better as I left though, but when I first got there, it was freezing!" said Nicole Newsome.
