Convict wants new trial in death of UVA lacrosse player

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Attorneys for George Huguely have filed a petition, asking for a new trial.

The petition argues that Huguely was denied the right to his chosen lawyer, the right to a fair and impartial jury, and other violations.

Huguely is serving 23 years in prison in connection to the death of UVA lacrosse player Yeardley Love.

Virginia has 30 days to respond to the petition.
