Home invasion in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

Four armed men stormed into a home in Hopewell, tying up the man inside and tearing through his belongings. The robbery happened around 6:30 Sunday night in the 3800 block of Kippax Drive. Neighbors say a quaint home was transformed into a crime scene.

"As I'm coming up the street walking home, there's seven, eight cop cars, ambulance, a whole bunch of ruckus... Neighbors are all out in the streets wondering what's going on," said next door neighbor, Jeremy Dunbar.

Police say the suspects, wearing bandannas over their faces,  forced their way into the house. They threatened the man who lives there with a gun. Dunbar says the victim has no reason to be targeted.

"He's real kind … waves to you....one of the nicest neighbors your could ask for really," said Dunbar. "I saw them put him in an ambulance, and after that, I didn't see him again for the rest of the night."

The neighborhood was left shaken after such a violent invasion, which might have happened to any home on the block.

"It's a little weird. It's a quiet neighborhood. It'll get you worried though," continued Dunbar.

Hopewell Police are asking anyone who might know something about this home invasion to call  Hopewell Crime Solvers at 541-2202.
