RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -
Violent crime in Richmond dropped seven percent in 2012, to the lowest it's been in 40 years.
City officials say the drop happened despite there being five more homicides last year than in 2011.
There was also a five percent increase in property crimes, which pushed the number of major crimes up.
