Tax service companies are warning your tax refunds will be delayed this year. You can usually file on January 22, but that date has been pushed back to January 30.
"People plan on getting their tax return and year after year it comes in about the same time," said Dale Matheney with Liberty Tax Service. "This year it has been pushed back by eight or nine days."
Matheney says it is all a side effect of the last minute tax changes made during the fiscal cliff debate.
"Our CEO described it as one of the hardest tax seasons ever, because with the fiscal cliff, the IRS didn't know what was going to be in the tax code," said Matheney.
Tax companies are getting creative to try and tide you over this tax season. Liberty Tax is offering $50 cash to customers.
"It gets cash in our customers hands as quickly as possible," said Matheney.
Liberty Tax is not alone. We found other tax service companies highlighting changes this year and pushing big savings.
"Things are changing, and they are changing on the fly!" said Matheney.
The IRS says there is no advantage to filing on paper before January 30.
