RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Two small children begged armed robbers to stop beating their father. The horrific scene played out in their own home on Richmond's Ambrose Street.

That father is now speaking out, hoping it helps find the crooks who attacked him and stole his children's sense of security. It is actually one of several robberies in the last few days.

Little 7-year-old China Blakey can't help fighting back tears after a recent break-in at her home on the 2300 block of Ambrose Street.

She and her 5-year-old brother watched as the men robbed and beat their father, Sharod Blakey.

"I heard a noise," said China. "And I saw three men with guns."

That scary image, coupled with the sirens and blue lights that followed, made a for a scene Sharod fears the kids will never forget.

"It upsets me because now they have to feel not safe in their own house," said Sharod.

Sharod says his hands were full because he was trying bring groceries in the house. The suspects offered to help Blakey take his groceries inside. Blakey says when the three men got inside the home they beat him in the head with the butt of a gun. He says they stole his gun and more than $200 he set aside for his rent.

"It is very much a concern to me. It is a concern to the patrol officer. It is a concern to the supervisors," said Lt. David Naoroz with the Richmond Police Department.

The Blakey family is not alone. We got our hands on the weekend crime report. It highlights at least eight robberies over the weekend.

"What we ask is for neighbors to really be aware of what's going on in their neighborhood," said Lt. Naoroz. "We can't be everywhere and so the eyes and ears really come from the streets."

Meanwhile, Sharod is just hoping police find the bold bandits before someone else gets hurt.

"I want them to find the people that came in my house and made my kids have to go through this," said Blakey.

There are three suspects: one was 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a slim build, about 30 years old with close-trimmed facial hair and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and brandishing a handgun. One suspect with a handgun was said to be about 20 years old with a medium build and wearing a pull-over mask. The third suspect, brandishing a shotgun, was described as about 27 years old, 6 feet tall with a slim build, a goatee and all black clothing.
