When Ryan Macklin smiles, he looks like a typical 6 -year-old boy.
However, when he is on the golf course, he turns into a 6-year-old beast!
"I actually pretty much taught myself," said Macklin.
The Pemberton Elementary School first grader is pretty much a regular on the links at the Richmond Country Club.
He is usually there two to three times a week with his dad- working on his swing, his stance, and, of course, his score.
Ryan started playing golf when he was 2-years-old. His father, Andy, says he has always shown unbelievable talent when it comes golf.
"When he was about 2, I came back home from work one day and we had some plastic clubs hanging around from when his big sister was born, and he was just hitting it around perfectly," said Macklin.
Four years later, he has only gotten better.
Ryan has won quite a few championships. He has also played in a number of prestigious competitions- including ones at the Richmond Country Club as well as the U.S. Kids World Championships.
Now, Ryan is trying a new competition for the "Best Pee Wee Golf Swing in the World", sponsored by Little Linksters.
However, this competition is online, and its based on the number of YouTube views.
"It's an online competition where you have the opportunity to submit a video of your child's swing, and the best swing wins a prize," said Macklin.
Ryan wants as many people to check out his skills on line because if he wins, he will get a trip to the San Diego Junior Masters competition as well as other cool prizes.
He says he wants to be a professional golfer when he grows up, just like his favorite golfer, Roy McIlroy. However, for now, Ryan is simply enjoying the game and all of the perks that comes along with it.
"I like meeting new friends," said Macklin.
