Bohemia, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 11, 2013
On January 11, 2013, Quorn Foods Inc. comments on an Philly.com article by Vance Lehmku, commemorating vegetarian strides made in 2012, which Lehmku has dubbed, “Philadelphia’s Year of the Vegetarian.”
The Philly.com article states that 2012 saw the emergence of “four noteworthy plant-based businesses,” with each business contributing meatless meals to a varied facet of the vegan/vegetarian community and in different neighborhoods.
According to the article, one eatery serves up green smoothies to help wash down its burgers and salads. Another restaurant produces food of a healthier fair with wraps and sandwiches. One vegan catering service opened up a brick and mortar café that offers desserts and home-style lunches, with prix-fix dinners at night. The article goes on to mention that Philly’s popular all-vegetarian food truck Kung Fu Hoagies, may find a permanent home in 2013, while two other popular eateries branched out from dishes comprised of meat to offer alternatives for vegans and vegetarians.
Philly was also named “the vegan-friendliest ‘middleweight’ city in a head-to-head contest with Washington, D.C.” by VegNews Magazine notes the article. Moreover, the city’s Vedge restaurant was named 2012’s “Restaurant of the Year” by the same publication. Vedge, a more upscale establishment, in Philadelphia embraces the meatless lifestyle wholly and even offers a vegan tasting menu.
“Lehmku is right! 2012 has been a great year for the vegan and vegetarian communities within Philadelphia,” says Quorn Foods representative David Wilson. “I think the community as a whole can help keep up the forward momentum in the New Year. For anyone considering switching to a vegetarian lifestyle, Quorn’s delicious products offer a healthy meat alternative for people who aren’t sure they can live without meat. Everyone should try at least one of our meatless meals in 2013.”
Quorn Foods launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn foods use mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
